In Case of Emergency – Fast, Quality Care is Close By

The First Pediatric ER in Denton County Is Welcome Relief for Parents

When it comes to an emergency, I don’t want to have to think about which hospital can handle it.  I want to know that I’m heading to the right place.  That’s why I’m so glad I stopped by the community opening for a look around the new ER at Medical City Lewisville on September 26, 2015. I was thoroughly impressed with the bright and modern facility, new state-of-the art technology, and friendly specialized staff ready to handle both pediatric and adult emergencies.

First of Its Kind Pediatric ER in Denton County

Let me tell you about the pediatric services first.

Medical Center of Lewisville is the first pediatric ER in Denton County,TexasBecause the pediatric emergency department is separate from the adult side, there is a more calming atmosphere for treating children.  The separate Pediatric Emergency entrance and waiting room limit children’s exposure to the rest of the emergency department.  There are six dedicated pediatric beds equipped with medical supplies sized for small bodies. The physicians and staff are specially trained in pediatric emergency medicine.

As a parent, knowing that a Child Life Specialist is available gives me peace of mind that my child can understand what’s happening in an appropriate way. Learning that Medical City Lewisville is in partnership with Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas, made me feel even more confident in the quality and level of care I can count on for my children.

What a relief it is for my family, neighbors and friends in Lewisville and Flower Mound, to know we have specialized pediatric emergency services – and adult emergency services – closer to home!

The new ER is double the size of the former emergency department and has 24 private beds, including two trauma rooms and imaging services in the department. The physicians are board certified in emergency medicine and have certifications in advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, and advanced trauma life support. Along with emergency trained nurses and staff, the new ER is prepared to treat all types of emergencies from severe bleeding, poisoning, and sudden illness, to stabilizing people with heart attack, stroke, or traumatic injuries.
